Tips for athletes during a pandemic

The current pandemic has affected the world and, of course, specific areas in our lives. We would like to publish a few tips for you athletes how to manage this situation.

1. Talk to people you trust and who can be your source of your support for you. Stay in touch with coaches, teammates through news, video calls, social media. Connect with your mental coach and get extra support to help alleviate your concerns and help you get through the current situation more easily.

2. Think about how to stay connected to your sport. While you are following the quarantine and all safety precautions, you can still follow your training plan to a certain level. You can take advantage of the newly created space to relay and heal injuries, catch up with school hurdles, pursue hobbies that you may not have had time before, continue your training plan, develop your mental skills and many more. It is important to think and consider what is best for you at the moment, to connect with your coach, teacher, mental coach and make your development plan to the upcoming period

3. Remeber your "WHY". Even if there aren’t competitions, races, matches, tournaments but keep repeating, remember and remind you why you are training and competing. It can help you stay positive and motivated during the current period.

4. Concentrate on physical and mental fitness. If you decide to continue and invest in your training, it may be easier to continue improving your flexibility, strength and mental side. Ask your coach what you can do to develop individual areas, what are your options or some sites, applications, etc. You can develop mental skills such as visualization, goal setting, concentration, relaxation, self – confidence etc.

5. Set your daily routine. We have control over how we decide what our day will look like. Set up morning and evening routines, enough sleep, self . care, time to learn, time to exercise. The schedule helps us keep the development plan and make us feel safe because we know what awaits us during the day and how we will use our day.
